About Love Language
Hi, I’m Rach!
I’m a textbook Taurus. My Love Language is Words Of Affirmation. My DJ request is always The Killers’s Mr. Brightside. And my bucket list wedding destination is Tuscany.
I have always been not so secretly obsessed with weddings, having my first taste for the industry as an intern writer for a popular wedding magazine. In these early days, I discovered an emerging cohort of young, vibrant celebrants delivering modern ceremonies, and I was so intrigued — I loved the idea of a role that would combine my love of storytelling (I was studying journalism at the time), performing, and event coordination.
Nothing beats having a front-row seat to a loved-up couple’s special moment.
In 2017, when the Marriage Act was amended to be more inclusive and aligned with my values, I commenced study to become a qualified civil celebrant. Since graduating, I’ve married old friends, met new ones, travelled the country, and never looked back (I mean, the C*vid era really threw a spanner in weddings for a time, but I try not to dwell).
I love the process that is involved with my job: meeting a couple and really getting to know them and what makes them tick and building a ceremony that balances the perfect amount of heartfelt storytelling and humour. And then, on the big day, nothing beats having a front-row seat to a loved-up couple’s special moment as they beam pure joy from ceremony start to finish.
Your day. Your way.
A Love Language Ceremony is for couples who want to celebrate in their own way. As a celebrant, my job is to draw out your unique ideas, uncover your personality as a couple, and bring this to life in a ceremony that is distinctly you.
At the end of the day, we are only limited by our imaginations, and I’m quite prepared to give anything a go, so together we can create some ceremony magic that you and your guests will never forget.
Why I love weddings
I love weddings because they are simply fun. They are the ultimate celebration of human connection wrapped inside the best party you’ll ever throw.
There are very few moments in life when you can snag all your favourite people in the one place, so you can’t risk wasting a minute of the day’s high vibes. I’m a firm believer that the party starts at the ceremony and sets the tone for the entire event, so it’s important to get it right.
Gone are the days of the ceremony being a stuffy formality that you and your guests are wishing away to get to the bar; now the ceremony is the epicentre that the rest of the wedding is built around.
It is the special touching moment in your big day.
It is your sense of fun brought to life.
It is the party!
